God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV +

Written by Jung

Talking about trading places, I believe that’s representative of our relationship with Jesus. He took on our sins, and in turn, we gained and became his righteousness.

So, what does it mean for us to embody his righteousness?

Firstly, just as Jesus had a choice, so do we. We must aspire to embrace his righteousness.

Secondly, we are not the fruit of our own work, but of Jesus’. This entails following his guidance rather than our own.

Thirdly, and in my view, most crucially, we shouldn’t confine ourselves with thoughts like ‘It’s impossible,’ ‘I lack the ability,’ or ‘I’m unworthy.’

When we genuinely surrender and learn to follow our Good Shepherd, we’ll grasp the immense power of Jesus, our capabilities in him, and how precious we are in Christ.

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Matthew 6:5‭-‬6 NIV +

What are the rewards of prayer?

I prefer prayers that benefit me. I don’t mean praying for my needs, but prayers that nurture my heart.

At times, I want to pray so that others can see what’s in my heart. Other times, I want to pray so I can highlight things that are incorrect around us.

However, when I am alone, there’s no audience but me and God. That’s when prayers shine and become beneficial to my soul.

I have the opportunity to examine what’s in my heart and my motivations. I can go easier on my shortcomings and surrender them to God, who has already addressed my failures through Jesus.

Realigning my heart and rediscovering gratitude in any circumstance is a true reward through prayer. Prayer brings joy.

You are truly good to me, my Lord.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.
Psalms 107:1‭-‬3 NIV +

Written by Jung Lee

I was in Malmesbury last night, visiting a Vuku Family meeting run by Pastor Lim from Paarl.

There was a lady named Linda. She works in and around a very wealthy neighborhood. One day, a lady in the neighborhood invited three ladies, including Lisa, and treated them with drinks, which had never happened to any other workers. She felt that it was Jesus showing His love to her.

I asked her what made her feel that it was Jesus instead of the wealthy lady. Without hesitation, Linda said, “It wasn’t just what she gave us and allowed us to do, but the subtle difference in how she treated us.”

Often, we believe that something big or miraculous is needed to show Jesus’ love. The truth is that it’s not what we do for one another, but rather how we do it. When it is done with Jesus’ love, they will not see just a cup of water being offered, but Jesus in you.

Let others find Jesus in you.

You are precious to Jesus.

I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.
Psalms 7:17 NIV +

Written by Jung

I was engaged in a conversation where we discussed how joyful it is to share the true goodness of Jesus with others. Sharing the truth and the love of Christ so that others can witness it brings its own abundant rewards. I could catch a glimpse of heaven in their eyes.

Later, I realized the incredible love that resides within those who discover the joy of spreading His love to others.

Before Jesus, giving thanks and praise to God were somewhat self-centered actions, as they were intended solely for Israel. This could be compared to boasting about the beauty of my house or the size of my family’s trust account. Ultimately, it was meant for others to admire and respect.

However, Jesus has transformed all of that. The house we used to boast about is no longer exclusively for my family, and our family trust account is not just meant for me and my children. It has become accessible to everyone, and anyone can take part in its ownership. Moreover, they can find delight in it for eternity even more than I ever could.

Taking this into account, sharing the truth and the love of Christ with the intention of letting others see it must be a selfless deed. Once this is understood and put into practice properly, we can grasp a genuine sense of joy and fulfillment in the kingdom of heaven.

I’ve seen this in the Vuku Family. Bless you, my family, and thank you.

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
1 Chronicles 16:8 NIV +

Written by Jung

We’ve indeed experienced troubles over the past two weeks. Both physically and spiritually, it was challenging for everyone.

Yet, he sustained us. He kept us strong. We even witnessed some changes and within them, hope.

One thing I saw clearly was that regardless of how formidable the world’s grip may be, nothing lasts forever.

There is no kingdom that won’t eventually fall. There is no power that will rule indefinitely.

The only thing that is eternal is God and His kingdom.

Let us praise God so that everyone around us will come to know who Jesus is and what he has done.

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:3‭-‬5 NIV +

It is quite astonishing that a group of people can hold hostage and disrupt so many people’s lives. Yes, I’m talking about the ongoing taxi strikes in the Cape Town area.

Whatever their issues are against the city, what the world obviously desires is more power and money. I’m listening to the news that someone has passed away during this chaos. Additionally, opportunistic criminals are taking chances to loot and steal things.

When our lives are affected, especially the lives of those innocent and good people, we can’t deny that we wish for a higher power to intervene.

But what kind of power do we wish for? God to come and punish? Or to overrule all the nonsense and bring justice?

What the world wants from us is for us to despair and surrender to their objectives. So, how about hope as true power? Instead of fighting their fight in their ways, why don’t we ask God to give us hope when the future is bleak? To help us endure and build character through it. Despite chaotic circumstances, we shouldn’t lose our way and the trust in the love that Jesus has shown us, while having faith in God’s good plan.

Any hardship will pass, but being able to gain stronger faith and even rise above the hardship in Christ’s love is the true power.

Do not fall with the world, my family, but let’s grow stronger and closer to Christ.
