Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
John 10:25‭-‬27 +

I remember when I didn’t know Christ. I had heard about him in bits and pieces, but I didn’t really know what to make of it. I might have thought going to church was simply about being in a social circle with certain types of people.

Then I moved on to thinking it was admirable to have a religion and become a person with virtues.

It got worse when I started to compare it with other religions, which seemed more appealing and applicable to the modern mindset. It was like I was comparison shopping for beliefs.

But when I finally met Christ, the reason was none of the things mentioned above. I came to understand who he was, not just what religion or going to church could do for me.

When I saw him, I knew I needed him. He filled a void in my heart, but that wasn’t the main reason. It wasn’t like needing a car and finding one that I loved. It was more like discovering a spaceship that I never knew I needed before. Because I wanted the spaceship so much, I trained to be an astronaut and bought myself a spacesuit. Now I’m traveling the universe.

Similarly, I never knew I needed Jesus. Now that he is with me, he is answering questions I never knew I had. Things start making sense in a way I’ve never imagined before. I would do anything to be with him and go anywhere, even if it meant exploring the deepest corners of space.

I love you, Lord.
