For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
Colossians 1:9-10 NIV +
Written by Jung
This is Apostle Paul’s prayer for the believers of Colossae. It is believed to be a church planted by Epaphras and was never visited by Paul himself.
For those admirable believers in Colossae, he offers this prayer. He doesn’t wish for their health or prosperity, but for knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that God imparts through the Spirit, so they may live a life worthy of and pleasing to the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Of course, he does wish the believers of Colossae well-being and healthy lives, but his primary concern for them was their spiritual growth and living a worthy life as Christians.
We have numerous prayer topics for one another, and that is a truly beautiful thing. However, today I’d like to serve as a reminder to pray for one another, not only for our own petitions and requests but also for those you love to experience spiritual growth and maturity in Christ. That would be your best gift, as someone who lives in the spirit.
I pray that your day will be filled with His presence and understanding.
