Why would some prefer the old?

Clearly, “new wine” refers to coming to God through faith in Jesus, while “old wine” symbolizes adherence to laws or seeking righteousness through discipline.

If your objective is to draw closer to God, embracing the new wine in Jesus will fulfill you. However, if your aim is to improve as an individual and gain respect through disciplined righteousness, the allure of the old wine may be tempting.

Here’s the catch: the old wine will lead you to compete for more, whereas the new wine will guide you to fellowship with those who embody love and kindness.

It is important to note that righteousness is given through Christ, not earned.

The choice is yours.
