Just wanted to share a common scene at Nomawethu’s house on Sundays.

We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

1 Timothy 1:8‭-‬9

I used to put jam on magwinya. Every time I did that, people around me laughed at me. It was a talk of the town.

“You don’t put jam on magwinya,” said a Xhosa person.

But when a Xhosa person put a hamburger in it, it is still good.

Law and commandments are like that as well. When a person with Christ (in His guidance) do anything, it is all good.

But when someone who doesn’t have Christ’s love and spirit in them do anything, all the legalism and commandments are applied.

So anyone try to force you some rules such as what to wear at church, what to say, how to respect elders or what is a right way to do things, they are treating you like a non-believer, who needs to be taught how to eat a magwinya.

Don’t just obey things. Consult it with Jesus. But do make sure that you fully have Christ’s living love in you first.

What are the rules the churches have that you don’t fully agree or understand?
