Helen trying to feed a slice of orange to Thembeka. Still needs convincing.
With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
Luke 1:3-4
The book of Luke and Acts were written for a man named Theophilus.
Luke states the reason for writing at the beginning of the book (Preface).
‘So you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.’
As Luke dedicated himself to investigating the life of Jesus and his disciples and writing an orderly account, he desired for Theophilus to know who Jesus was.
It is also our desire for them to have faith in Jesus and live accordingly.
So they may hope in Christ.
